University Meets Microfinance (UMM) offers lectures, workshops and seminars on microfinance for universities:
- Introductory guest lecture about a microfinance topic
- Half-day workshop (introductory lecture and case study)
- One-day workshop (lecture and case study)
- Three-day seminar (theoretical basics, case studies and input by microfinance practicioner)
Lecturers are academics of the Freie Universität Berlin, UMM partner universities and microfinance practitioners. Please contact us if you are interested in hosting a guest lecture, a workshop or a seminar, or in exchanging teaching materials: umm@planetfinance.org
Initiatives by students to organize microfinance lectures, workshops or seminars are also very welcome.
The UMM 3-day Microfinance Seminar is based on the time-tested and successful seminar concept of the Freie Universität Berlin and its Latin American Institute. You can download the seminar overview here: Microfinance seminar .
While in the first place designed for students of economics and business administration, the seminar also aims to broaden the understanding of poverty, poverty alleviation, international development cooperation, development finance and its links to microfinance. The seminar is also adapted to the needs and interests of other disciplines (e.g. international politics, sociology).
